Physicians and Employees at Woodlands Medical Specialists are “Growing Our Hair To Show We Care.”
In an effort to promote and educate men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, Woodlands Urologists and Physicians will be growing facial hair during Movember to help raise awareness for an important cause, men’s health. Movember is a month long movement to challenge men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a mustache for men’s health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and physical inactivity. https://us.movember.com
One in seven American men will have prostate cancer during his lifetime. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among American men and is the most commonly diagnosed. The American Cancer Society estimates that 220,800 men will be told they have prostate cancer in 2015. Currently there are nearly 2.8 million American men living with the disease. Early detection and advances in treatment are saving lives.
Woodlands is fundraising throughout the month onsite by selling handmade Movember lapel pins, hair ties, and headbands. Physicians and employees will also wear Woodlands designed Movember Shirts for $1 every Friday throughout November. All proceeds for fundraising will benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
