ROBOTIC-ASSISTED SURGERY

Robotic-assisted surgery is changing the way complex and delicate urological surgeries are performed, and The Robotic Surgical Institute is leading this change across the Gulf Coast. An exceptional team of surgeons and a comprehensive approach to treatment have made The Robotic Surgical Institute the preferred choice for patients and physicians seeking world-class treatment within a day’s drive of many major surrounding cities.

Surgeon experience matters. Robotic surgical machinery is simply stunning in its capabilities – but nothing matters more than the skill and experience of the surgeon operating the equipment.

Woodlands has the only fellowship-trained robotic urological surgeons in Pensacola, and our team has completed more than 1,000 robotic-assisted surgeries over the last decade for wide-ranging procedures such as kidney reconstruction and prostate cancer treatment. As a division of the acclaimed Woodlands Medical Specialists, The Robotic Surgical Institute can provide every patient with personalized and coordinated treatment options for all urologic conditions.

BENEFITS OF ROBOTIC SURGERY

Less pain and less need for narcotic pain medicine than traditional surgery.

Shorter hospital stays and faster recovery than traditional surgery, which means a quicker return to normal daily activities. Spend less time in recovery and more time being you.

Minimal trauma to the body, less risk of infection, and less blood loss compared to traditional surgery.

Less scarring than traditional surgery. An incision comparison visual is shown to the right.

PROCEDURES WE OFFER

Robotic radical prostatectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat prostate cancer. During the operation, the surgeon removes the prostate gland and some surrounding tissue, typically including the seminal vesicles.

Robotic-assisted simple prostatectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat very large prostates. Unlike a radical prostatectomy, which is performed for prostate cancer, a simple prostatectomy involves the removal of part of the prostate gland to relieve symptoms associated with BPH, such as urinary obstructions.

Robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove a kidney tumor while preserving the healthy portion of the kidney. It is a highly effective option for treating kidney cancer while maximizing kidney preservation and function.

Robotic-assisted radical nephrectomy minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat kidney cancer by removing the entire kidney.

Robotic-assisted pyeloplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used for ureteropelvic junction obstruction.  Ureteropelvic junction obstruction is a condition where a blockage or narrowing of where the ureter meets the kidney’s renal pelvis, causing urine to back up causing pain and/or infection and potentially leading to kidney damage.

Robotic-assisted repair of the ureter is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat injuries, strictures, or blockages in the ureter, the tube that carries urine from the kidneys to the bladder.

Robotic sacrocolpopexy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat pelvic organ prolapse (POP) in women, a condition where the bladder, uterus, or rectum descends into the vaginal canal due to weakened pelvic floor muscles. This procedure involves attaching the vagina or cervix to the sacrum (a bone at the base of the spine) using a synthetic mesh to provide support and prevent further prolapse.
